Using the Find Action via Zapier

2 min read

Using the Find action in Zapier to locate a document in your document library. The find result can be updated or a new document created

When setting up a Zap, The Find action can be used to locate a document in the ContentBot.ai document library, if no matching document is found, a new document can be created, the following guide walks through the process of Setting up a Zap to search for a document title, create a document if no match is found, or update the existing document with the content retrieved from an RSS update.

Step 1

From your Zapier Dashboard select the + Create Zap button, and name your Zap (optional)

Step 2

Configure your Trigger :

  • Select The Trigger Application, in this example we’ll be using the Built in RSS tool
  • Chose the Event trigger, in this case we’ll be selecting New item in Feed
  • Select Continue
  • Populate the trigger details, in our RSS trigger example, we insert the Feed URL and select the recommended option for What Triggers a New Feed Item
  • Select Continue and Test Trigger, and Continue again once the test is successful

Step 3

Configure the Action :

  • Select ContentBot as the action Application
  • Select Find Document as the Event
  • Select Continue and choose your ContentBot user as the ContentBot account
  • Select Continue
  • Populate the Set up action details, in this example we will select RSS Title as search term that will be used the Title Field. We then check the Create ContentBot Document if it does’ exist yet? box. We then add details to the Create HTML input box, in this example we add some free text, as well as the RSS Title, RSS Link and RSS Description
  • Select Continue and Test Action, and Publish Zap once the test is successful

Step 4

Review the Zap and documents:

This new Zap should now be visible in Zapier and can be monitored on the Zaps page

As the RSS feed is updated, your Zap will now update any document with a matching title to the News items, or create a new document in ContentBot.ai and these documents can be found in your Documents folder, ready for editing.
